Pohutukawa

Our group read a story that was called pohutukawa. We wrote facts about pohutukawa.

1. The bark is very rough.
2.The top of the leaves are shiny and green with a waxy coating.
3. The bark protects the tree from losing water.
4. People think that the pohutukawa is the Chrismas tree.
5. Geckos eat the leaves of the pohutukawa.
6. Pohutukawas are the children of Tane Mahuta.

  1. Great facts Thomas!
How does the bark protect the tree from losing water? Is this a good thing and why?

  2. Hi Thomas, Liam here (your blog buddy) How does the gecko get up the tree trunk to eat the leaves if the trunk is really rough?
